Pressure wash entire surface. Remove algae with dilute bleach solution. Clear all joint sand. Allow to dry completely — minimum 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

My pavers have algae. Can I seal over it?

No. Seal over algae and you lock it in — it continues growing under the sealer and eventually lifts it. Treat with a diluted bleach or dedicated algae cleaner, allow 24 hours, rinse thoroughly, dry completely, then seal.

My pavers have turned white (efflorescence). Will sealer fix it?

Remove efflorescence with dilute acid wash (1:10 hydrochloric acid solution) first. Neutralise with water, allow 48 hours to dry. Then seal. Do not seal over efflorescence — the salts will continue to migrate and lift the sealer.
